Lynk & Co 08: hybrid powertrain, versions and what to know before buying
Lynk & Co 08 — the mid-sized crossover from Chinese manufacturer Lynk & Co with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, officially unveiled in March 2023. We take a look at its powertrain, batteries and what buyers in Lithuania need to know.
Lynk & Co 08 in brief
The Lynk & Co 08 design was first shown in the 'The Next Day' concept, unveiled in China on 7 June 2022. The model was officially launched on 25 March 2023. It's a mid-sized crossover with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Exterior highlights include split daytime running lights, split front headlights, door-mounted mirrors attached to a vertical element from the door base, and a segmented rear light bar. The interior is minimalist: an oval steering wheel, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 15.4-inch 'floating' central screen and a 9.2-inch AR display on the windscreen.
Platform and powertrain
The 08 is built on the 'CMA' (Compact Modular Architecture) platform and is technically close to the Volvo XC70. The powertrain is called EM-P: it consists of a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and two or three electric motors. Combined power output is 456kW (around 620hp), with a maximum torque of 905Nm.
The car has all-wheel drive and can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds. It uses a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and an LFP battery — 28.3 or 38.2kWh. The manufacturer claims up to 185km of electric range (CLTC) and up to 1400km total range.
Updates and market
In August 2025, the refreshed 2026 model was unveiled. It features a revised front and rear, along with the new-generation 'Nvidia Drive Thor' system, boasting a peak computing power of around 700 TOPS.
The model was primarily designed for the Chinese market. Before buying, check if the specific car is intended for the European market and what software and warranty it comes with.
What to know when buying a Lynk & Co 08
A plug-in hybrid powertrain requires access to both fuel and charging points, so consider your usage (mostly short trips or long journeys) to see if it's truly beneficial for you. Ask for a battery condition report and charging history.
Due to the complex hybrid powertrain and abundance of electronics, it's crucial to know who in Lithuania will handle the servicing. Cars imported from China may have Chinese charging connectors and software — check if they're suitable for Lithuania.

Battery comparison
| 28,3 kWh | 38,2 kWh | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it's for | Daily driving and shorter trips | More electric-only range |
| Transmission | EM-P: 1.5-litre turbo and electric powertrains | EM-P: 1.5-litre turbo and electric powertrains |
| Gearbox | Three-speed DHT | Three-speed DHT |
| Price in the used market (relatively) | €€ | €€€ |
Many buyers will prefer the larger 38.2 kWh battery, as it allows for more frequent electric-only driving. If you mostly drive long distances, the difference between the two versions will be less noticeable.
Pros
- A very powerful hybrid powertrain (up to around 620 hp)
- All-wheel drive
- Large screen and AR display system
- Distinctive design and modern interior
Cons
- CLTC ranges are optimistic and don't always reflect reality
- The service network in Lithuania may be limited
- Complex hybrid powertrain and lots of electronics
